Top Selling American Car Brands in 2019
Automobile history goes a long way so does American car brands who manufacture automotive vehicles. In 1913, America made headlines and history when Henry Ford became the first company to mass produce automobiles on a moving assembly line with its Ford Model T.
Things were much simpler back in the day, but these days the competition has become very stiff with foreign companies in the American market.
Here at Manuel’s Body Shop in Culver City, we’re taking a look at American car brands and their top selling models (in 2019).
If you didn’t know, there are over 2000 auto brands that existed through out the years. Some brands some familiar while other brands might leave you scratching your head.
General Motors (GM)

General Motors was founded in 1908 and also produces cars under multiple brands such as Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Holden and Wuling. Because of this, General Motors remains to be the leading manufacturer in the world due to its unit sales and it is considered the largest automaker in the world.
Top Selling: Chevrolet Silverado
Under the Chevrolet brand, the Silverado pickup truck has garnered 256,777 in 2019. With its longer and wider model, this new model gives passengers more space as well as more cargo room. Not to mention, a new design update with its exterior and interior.
Ford

Ford is the second largest American Car manufacturer and one of the most familiar brands that we know all around the world. Founded in 1903, it remains strong with it comes to being one of the world’s top automakers.
Fords has evolved through the years and its production line includes sedans, SUVs. B, crossovers, trucks, vans ,and hybrid models.
Top Selling: F-Series
The top selling Ford vehicle is the Ford F-series with about 448,398 units sold for the first half of 2019. This full-sized pick up remains to be the top selling American model. It remains to the be the best-selling American vehicle for most than 30 years.
Chrysler

Chrysler was founded in 1925 and its parent company is actually Flat Chryslers Automobiles in the United Kingdom. Chrysler comes in as the third largest automaker in the United States and produces vehicles under well-known brand Dodge, Ram, and Jeep.
Top Selling : RAM Pickup
The Ram Pickup has reached new heights with 299,480 units sold for the first half of 2019. That is almost a 30% increase compared to the previous year.
The Ram has some new updates with its exterior and interior styling. A new hybrid model is also being introduced in the line up.
Cadillac

Founded in 1902, Cadillac is well-known for making luxury cars and its parent company is General Motors. It has increased production through out the years.
Top Selling : XT5
The Cadillac XT5 is crossover vehicle that has garnered around 26,000 units sold and it the best-selling vehicle under the Cadillac brand.
Buick

Buick was founded in 1903 and it is another brand under General Motors. In between Chevrolet and Cadillac, this car brand produces entry-level luxury models.
Top Selling: Encore
The Buick Encore is a subcompact crossover which sold around 24,000 units in the first quarter of 2019.
GMC

GMC was founded in 1908 and is sold in North America and the Middle East.
Top Selling: Sierra
The GMC Sierra is another best-selling pickup with around 97,400 units sold. This model has undergone some design changes and sales are up compared the previous year.
Dodge

Founded in 1900, Dodge is one of the marques of the brand Chrysler which boasts lower-priced models of minivans and SUVs.
Top Selling : Caravan
The Dodge Caravan is one of the popular minivans in the market with about 72,000 units sold for the first half of 2019.
Jeep

Jeep was founded in 1942 and its well-known for sport utility and off-road vehicles. In addition, it has also produced pickup trucks.
Jeep was a symbol of determination during the second world war. In 1987, it was purchased by Chrysler along with other brands.
Top Selling: Cherokee
The Jeep Cherokee underwent a redesign in 2019 and only returned to production in 2014. It is one of the popular models under brand, selling 97,000 units for the first half of 2019.
Telsa Motors

One of the newest emerging brands is Telsa Motors which was only founded in 2004. It has gained popularity and recognition all over the world for its innovation. With its electric car line-up, it has potential to become one of the top brands in the United States.
Top Selling: Model 3
The Tesla Model 3 is one of the best-selling electric models in the market with around 67,750 units sold for the first half of 2019. In fact, it earns the top spot as the best selling electric car in the United States.
AM General

Not a lot of people are familiar with the American Motors Corporation which was founded in 1971, but the Hummer falls under this brand along with military humvees, delivery vans, and trolley buses.
Top Selling: Hummer
Hummer was the top-selling brand before the brand was sold to General Motors and discontinued in 2019
